Miranda transfer claims quashed by Manchester UnitedBy bobricky 06:14 Wed, 28 May 2014 Comments
Manchester United have denied that they are on the verge of sealing a deal for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda.
Spanish paper AS claimed the Red Devils had agreed to match the 29-year-old’s £24million buy-out clause, and were set to discuss terms with the Brazilian international.
However, sources at Old Trafford have told the Daily Mail that there is no truth in the link.
Miranda has been at the heart of Atletico’s storming success in La Liga, as well as marshalling their defence to within two minutes of Champions League glory.
New United boss Louis van Gaal has identified his defence as a weak point and will urgently look to replace the departing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, but not –it seems –with Miranda.
The Brazilian has also been linked with Barcelona, and is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is believed to be trying to engineer one last big move for his client who turns 30 in September
