Chelsea want CSKA Moscow star Georgi Schennikov to be their new left-back after giving up on trying to lure Luke Shaw

Blues manager Jose Mourinho is on

the lookout for a new left-back this

summer, with Ashley Cole set to

depart when his contract expires.

Southampton youngster Luke Shaw

has been the top target, but he

prefers a switch to Manchester

United instead, and Chelsea have

now turned to Schennikov.

The 23-year-old, who is set to star

for Russia at the World Cup, is

highly-rated and Chelsea are

preparing a £7million offer.

CSKA have previously resisted both

Real Madrid and AC Milan interest

in Schennikov, but a switch to

Stamford Bridge is firmly on the


Chelsea are expected to open talks

with CSKA in the coming weeks in a

bid to get the transfer done quickly.
