Nokia 6300i Brings Wi-Fi Home

The highly popular Nokia 6300 has received a worthy successor in the face of the Nokia 6300i. Topped with Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) support, the Nokia 6300i retains the original looks and functionality of the previous device.

Surely an exciting upgrade, the Nokia 6300i is in fact identical to the Nokia 6301, which has UMA support beside Wi-Fi. Behind the UMA abbreviation lays some simple means for your network carrier to charge you for calls made via the Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) network as if they were normal Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) ones. The Nokia 6301 was produced for some network carriers and never saw the light of day on the general market.

The Nokia 6300i takes care of that blunder - you now have the customizability of the Nokia S40 software platform (same as Nokia 6300 and Nokia 6500 classic) bundled with Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) support for quick data transfers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) support for making calls via Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) and also Nokia Maps to assist you find your way around.

The tri-band GSM/EDGE enabled Nokia 6300i has a 2-inch QVideo Graphics Array (VGA) TFT display, a 2 megapixel camera, microSD memory card slot, a 2.5 mm audio connector and stereo Bluetooth.

The Nokia 6300i will be available in Graphite Grey for around 175 euro before taxes somewhere in Q2 2008.
