Sterling Bank boosts savings culture

Sterling Bank Plc says it has rewarded 40 customers in the

New Sterling Plus cash reward scheme.

The New Sterling Plus is a new proposition introduced by

the lender for the retail segment of the market

The bank in a statement on Sunday said the customers

were rewarded on Friday and the development was in

fulfillment of its promise to reward customer loyalty and

encourage a savings culture among Nigerians.

It said the customers were selected via an electronic raffle

draw while winners emerged from various parts of the


The statement said, “All customers with a minimum balance

of N5,000 automatically qualify for the draws with one

ticket while subsequent multiples of N5,000 result in

additional tickets. The next draw will come up this week at

the Sterling Bank head office in Lagos.”

According to the bank, the New Sterling Plus is a hybrid

offering with a promise of many freebies including Lenovo

smartphones pre-loaded with financial and entertainment


The statement quoted the Executive Director, Finance and

Strategy, Sterling Bank, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, as

explaining that the applications on the smartphones would

help to meet customers banking, entertainment and

financial literacy needs.

He listed some of the applications to include Sterling Mobile

Banking, solo music and movie (which gives access to over

20 million songs from local and foreign artistes as well as

latest movies from Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood),

and the billionaire club game(a financial and investment

literacy tool).

Suleiman said the product was good for individuals

interested in enjoying the benefits of both current and

savings account offerings, without the associated cost of

running a current account.
