Roaming Fees In Europe To Remain Until 2018By cheatmaster 02:35 Sat, 24 Jul 2021 Comments
While many were hopeful that the European Parliament's moves to eradicate roaming fees by the discontinue of 2015 are coming to fruition it seems that a roaming-free European Union is still some ways off.
Despite the European Parliament's agenda to outlaw roaming charges member states have backed carriers who say they need to charge customers for the space on foreign carriers' networks. This is despite the fact that many of the European telecoms have networks in more than one country - Vodafone, T-Mobile, Telefonica, Telenor and others.
Roaming fees in Europe have been coming down in price steadily for the past couple of years and currently carriers all over Europe have tariffs in place to reduce the price even further but a downcorrect removal of fees isn't likely to happen until 2018.
The European Commission has argued that removing roaming fees would be in consumers' best interest but it seems it will have to work harder for a fee-free roaming in the Union.
