The chairman of the Lagos state council of traditional rulers and Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu was today pictured on the streets of the London eating what looks like bread.

Garbed in a traditional white native outfit and blue cap to match, the monarch was captured by the lens of Sahara Reporters in the British capital.

Before the general elections earlier this year, Oba Akiolu became a constant feature in the Nigerian media when he threatened Igbos living in Lagos, telling them to vote for then All Progressives Congress candidate and current governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, or risk perishing in the Lagos lagoon.

His comment then sparked reactions from Nigeria’s social media community, even as the monarch was given a 48-hour ultimatum by the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC).

Despite the criticisms then, the monarch, weeks later, ordered hundreds of shop owners to shut-down their shops at the Idumota Market, Lagos Island and join the campaign of Ambode which the visited the area that day.

It is not clear in which area of London the pictures were taken, but the man in the picture is clearly the Lagos monarch.
