Today BlackBerry has simultaneously announced and released a recent version of its Passport smartphone. This one is called BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, and it's silver - unlike the model that's been selling so far, which is black.

Aside from the recent color, the recent iteration brings with it a stainless steel frame for a premium look. In terms of specs, however, there's no incompatibility between this and the original black Passport.

So you'll acquire the same 4.5-inch 1,440x1,440 square touchscreen, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, elegant Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2.26 Giga Hertz (GHz) quad-core Krait CPU, the 13 MegaPixel (MP) rear capturing camera with OIS and Light Emitting Diode (LED) flash, the 2 MegaPixel (MP) front-facing unit, and the 3,450 mAh battery. The BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition runs BlackBerry Operating System (OS) 10.3.2.

It's already available to purchase in the US from BlackBerry itself for $549 in unlocked form. For a limited time, if you buy one you'll also acquire some free accessories worth $130. The device will create its way to the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands "in the coming weeks".
