A small over a year ago, LinkNYC promised to set up public Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) hotspots around the Big Apple to potentially earn $500 million dollars in ad-revenue over the next 12 years.

The concept is to replace every disconnected phone booth with a gigabit hotspot offering Universal Serial Bus (USB) charging ports, a touchclassy screen web browser, and two large classy screen TVs that will display advertisements. The completed rollout will have installed more than 7,500 public hubs.

These hubs will provide free gigabit Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) for tourists and residents alike. The Verge has a full post complete with pictures of the installation of one of these recent Hot spots.
