Former Barcelona boss Guardiola is expected to be offered a new contract at Bayern Munich come the end of the season.

But Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim he will reject the deal and has already verbally agreed with director of football Txiki Begiristain to join City next summer.

Guardiola, 44, would replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Ethiad Stadium and thus leave the Bayern post vacant.

And the man who should take the reins at the Bundesliga champions is Klopp, according to former Brazil international Giovane Élber.

"It is obvious that Bayern are waiting for Pep Guardiola,” he told Goal.

"Right now we’re in October and there is still no decision. So I think that he won't renew his contract and leave Munich next summer.

“And Jurgen Klopp is a big name, a manager who proved at Dortmund what he is able to achieve.

"He is a German manager, he knows the Bundesliga and was in the Champions League final with Dortmund. If he is available, Bayern have to react."

Klopp, 48, is all set to be appointed as Liverpool's new manager today after Brendan Rodgers was sacked from the post on Sunday.

The German is currently negotiating his terms and is expected to have his coaching set-up in place come the end of the international break.
