Looks like the competition in the streaming music market is all set to heat up, once again. According to a recent report from Reuters, Amazon is preparing to launch its own streaming music service that will rival similar offerings from existing players like Apple and Spotify.

Nothing much is currently known about the service, except that it will cost $9.99 per month (which is pretty much a standard these days), and Amazon is currently finalizing licenses with labels. As for its launch, a "late summer or early fall" timeline is being suggested.

The report notes that the upcoming service is also aimed at increasing the appeal of the Amazon Echo smart speaker. It's worth mentioning that the company already offers a free streaming music service to Amazon Prime users, although it has a limited catalog.
